Description

This is a petrol pump dating from around 1935, located to the east of The Forge on Oxton Forest Road. It is a square steel petrol pump that stands on a chamfered and stepped concrete base. The front features a hexagonal fuel dial topped with a small canopy. The chamfered top is missing its glass globe. A petrol pump hose and nozzle are situated on the left side. This is a Model AH 288 petrol pump, which was first manufactured by Avery Hardoll in December 1934. The pump has good group value with the nearby blacksmith's forge.
