Description
Wesley House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 18th century and was enlarged in the late 18th century, with further alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick and features plain tile roofs, with a raised gable and kneelers facing the street. It has three brick chimney stacks and brick dentilated eaves. The house is three storeys high, with the gable end facing the street.
The main garden front has four windows and a central doorway framed in painted surround, topped with a flat stone hood supported by stone brackets. The door features four raised and fielded panels along with two glass panels at the top. To the right of the doorway is a glazing bar sash window, followed by another doorway with projecting brick jambs that support a stone hood, which has a 20th-century door. Further to the right is another glazing bar sash window with a cut brick lintel. On the left side, there are two broad canted brick bay windows with flat roofs, plain sashes, and stone lintels and cills. Above the main entrance, there are four glazing bar sash windows, all with cut brick lintels, and above these are four three-light plain casement windows.
Inside, the house retains its original staircase featuring a moulded handrail and boxed-in balusters on the lower floors, although the balusters on the upper floors have been replaced. Original doors with moulded surrounds are present throughout the house. The ground floor rooms have stop-chamfered spine beams with moulded stops.
