Description

The Old Rectory is a house, formerly the rectory, dating from around 1830. It is constructed of red brick with a hipped slate roof, featuring wide eaves and two red brick stacks at the rear. The building is two storeys high and originally three bays wide. The central doorway has a panelled door with a reveal, overlight, reeded surround, two decorative stone elements (patera), and a slightly projecting hood. To the left of the doorway is a blind opening with painted glazing bars, and to the right a single glazing bar sash window, with three similar sash windows above. A lower, two-storey, single-bay red brick extension, set back from the main facade, features a hipped pantile roof and two glazing bar sash windows, one double. All the sashes and the blind opening have lintels constructed of flush wedge brick. The south front of the house has three glazing bar sashes on each floor. The west front incorporates a two-storey polygonal projecting bay with glazing bar sash windows and a doorway.
