Description
Nos. 36-39 on Market Place are two houses that have been converted into a shop and store. The buildings date from around 1800 and 1850, with the ground floors rebuilt around 1980. The taller left section, built around 1850, is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. It features a single gable stack and cogged eaves, standing three storeys high with a two-window range of top hung casements and fixed lights, and above that, two plain sashes. The ground floor has two close boarded doors and a single window. The right section, dating from around 1800, is made of brick with a pantile roof and has a single gable stack and boxed wooden eaves. This section also stands three storeys tall and has a three-window range of 12-pane sashes, with the lower lights reglazed and keystone lintels. Above are two additional 12-pane sashes, and the ground floor features a glazed shopfront with a fascia.
