Description

The goods warehouse, located 150 meters northeast of Castle Station in Newark on Trent, was built around 1875 and is now disused. It is constructed of brick, featuring blue and yellow brick and stone dressings, and has a hipped slate roof with a single corner stack. The building has a chamfered plinth, pilasters, and brick modillion eaves with a stone cornice.

The structure is two storeys high and measures 13 bays by 3 bays. The symmetrical front facing the yard has 15 windows, with 4 of them paired and 3 blocked. Most of the windows are unglazed. The ground floor features 3 pairs of double doors with iron lintels and brick cornices, which are separated by pairs of windows and flanked by 3 windows on each side.

The left return of the building has 4 cast iron glazing bar casements, and below it is a segment-headed wagon entrance with 2 windows to its right. The right return has similar window arrangements, but in a mirrored layout. The track side shows the remains of 3 hoists, with the central gabled canopy still in place, separated by groups of 3 windows and flanked by another 3 windows on each side. Below this, there are 15 windows. The interior features a steel truss roof.
