Description
The former manager's house, along with adjoining cottages and workshops, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features hipped roofs made of slate and pantiles. The building has two storeys and is arranged in a U-shape, with three side wall stacks and three ridge stacks.
The front of the house, facing southeast, includes three glazing bar sash windows with rusticated keystoned lintels. To the left of these, there are three small casement windows, and above them, a larger single casement window. The entrance features an off-centre rusticated doorcase with a round head and keystone, leading to a panelled door with a fanlight. To the right, there are two additional glazing bar sashes with rusticated keystoned lintels, and to the left, a 20th-century square bay window with glazing bar casements.
The workshop range to the left contains four small casements, while the southeast end has two segment-headed glazing bar sashes to the right, a similar sash in the centre, and a pair of garage doors to the right. The rear elevation features a hipped wing at each end; the left wing includes a semicircular window and a smaller casement to its right, while the right wing has a single glazing bar sash and above it, a five-light glazing bar casement. In the centre of the range, there are six glazing bar sashes. To the left, there is a single-storey lean-to addition with a pantile roof, and to its right, three larger glazing bar sashes with segmental heads. This building is part of a mill complex that was used for spinning cotton and silk.
