Description
These are five cottages located opposite the former Manager's House in Maythorne, Southwell. They were built in the early 19th century and altered around 1988. The cottages are constructed of brick and topped with pantile roofs. They feature rebated eaves, two ridge stacks, a single corner stack, and a single side wall stack. The buildings rise to three storeys and have a five-window range of segment-headed glazing bar casements, with the rightmost window being blank. Above this, there is similar fenestration, but with smaller flat-headed windows. The ground floor has a near-central pair of doors, with two casements and a door to the left, and two windows alternating with two doors to the right. The gable end on the right side has two segment-headed windows on each floor, along with a 20th-century flat-headed window in the gable. This building is part of a mill complex that was originally constructed for cotton and silk spinning.
