Description

St. Michael’s Cottage is an early 19th-century cottage located on the south side of Gonalston Lane in Hoveringham. It is built of rendered brick with a slate roof and has two red brick and render gable stacks. A raised eaves band and plinth are also present. The cottage is two storeys and three bays wide, with a first-floor band dividing the storeys. A central, gabled porch is rendered and has a plain tile roof and bargeboards, sheltering a panelled door with a glazing bar overlight. Either side of the door are single tripartite sash windows set beneath segmental arches. Above these are two similar sashes with a single, smaller, similar sash in the centre. Extensions and two-storey wings form the rear elevation.
