Description
A late 18th-century pair of cottages and adjoining malthouse, located on the south side of Station Street in Mansfield Woodhouse. The building is constructed of coursed squared rubble and dressed stone with a slate roof and features two gable stacks. It is two storeys high and comprises a single range with 2/2/4 bays.
The left-hand cottage (No. 27) has a central door flanked by single windows. Above, there are three windows. No. 29 has a central door flanked to the left by a window and to the right by a carriage entry with a segmental head and a pair of doors. Above this entrance are two windows. No. 31 has, to the left, a square hatch with a stone lintel, and to the right, a large blocked window. To the right again is a garage door with a wooden lintel, above which are four blocked windows. The west gable has a square opening above it, and above that again, a timber mullioned casement.
The rear elevation exhibits a blocked opening to the left, and to its right, a door and carriage opening. A lean-to addition with a corrugated iron roof includes two doors and a casement. To the right of this addition is a glazing bar casement. Above, to the left, is a blocked opening with an alighting shelf, and to the right, a casement. Further to the right is a blocked window and door; above them is a central casement.
