Description

The Grange and the adjoining boundary wall is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The building is constructed of squared rubble in uneven courses, featuring ashlar dressings and a slate roof. It has a chamfered plinth, ashlar quoins, and coped gables with kneelers. The structure is two storeys high, plus garrets, and has a square plan with four bays.

The south front includes an off-centre 20th-century hipped porch with a rockfaced plinth. To the left of the porch is a round 19th-century bay window with five casements, and to the right are a casement and a square, slated 19th-century bay window with five casements. Further to the right is an adjoining cross-gabled conservatory with a brick plinth, featuring a central door facing south and gables adorned with finials. Above the conservatory are three plain sashes, and to the right, there is a casement.

The west front has a central rendered brick addition from the 19th century, with a 20th-century timber porch to the left. The left side features a casement and a sash, while the right side has a glazing bar sash and a casement. Above this, there are two casements. The rear elevation includes a 19th-century lean-to addition made of brick with a slate roof. To the west, there are two doors and a blocked opening with a timber lintel.

The adjoining boundary wall is made of coursed rubble and has a flat stone coping. To the east of the wall, there is a casement and a door. To the left, there are two blocked stone mullioned cellar windows with chamfered reveals. Above these are four cross-transom casements and a plain casement. Above again, to the left, are two blocked openings, and to their right, there is a cross casement. Further to the right, there is a plain sash, a blocked opening, and another cross casement. The east end features a large 20th-century flat-roofed addition with a parapet, and to the east, there are two casements, while the north side has three casements. The main east front includes a cross casement to the right, with a plain sash above it, and above again, there are two small casements.
