Description

Bonington House is a Grade II listed building located on Gedling High Street in Arnold. It was originally built in the early 18th century and has undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. The house is constructed of brick with a plain tile roof and features ashlar dressings. Architectural details include a chamfered plinth, rusticated quoins, a dentillated eaves cornice, and coped gables, along with three gable stacks.

The building is three storeys high and has four bays in a J-plan layout. The windows are glazing bar sashes with splayed wavy keystoned lintels. The east front has an off-centre door with an overlight and a bargeboarded late 20th-century hood supported by brackets. There are two sashes to the left of the door and one to the right. A concrete and bronze memorial plaque is inscribed with "In this house was born 25 October 1802 Richard Parkes Bonington, Artist." Above the door, there are four sashes, and above those, four smaller sashes.

To the left, there are late 20th-century additions that are single storey and consist of three bays. The north gable features a cellar opening to the right, with a single sash window on each floor above it. To the right, there is a large late 20th-century single storey addition.
