Description

Chetwynd House is a service wing, originally part of Papplewick Hall, dating to the early 18th century. It is now a house, located off Blidworth Way in Papplewick. The construction is of coursed and squared rubble with a hipped slate roof, featuring stone dressings, quoins, and moulded eaves, along with three ridge stacks. The building has an irregular L-plan and two storeys, composed of five unequal bays. The windows are primarily 18th-century cross-mullioned casements, characterized by heavy stone jambs and mullions.

The east front has a passage opening to the left, followed by a door and three casements to the right, beyond a 20th-century boundary wall. Above, there is a central casement, and above that, two leaded dormers with segmental heads and a louvred ridge ventilator. The south side includes a four-centred arched opening containing a 20th-century door, followed by another door, a blocked carriage opening also containing a door, two casements, and two doors. Above, there is a 20th-century casement to the right. The return angle to the right features a lean-to addition with a door. The rear elevation has a 20th-century French window flanked by single casements to the left, and a French window to the right. Above, there are two casements to the right, two Yorkshire sashes and a single casement, and a dormer with a 20th-century casement.

The property is surrounded by a curved boundary wall with flat coping. A chamfered doorway is present on the right side of the wall.
