Description
A stable range, dating to the late 18th and early 19th centuries, now used as houses. The building is constructed of coursed and squared rubble with gabled and hipped slate roofs. It features a rubble plinth, plain eaves, and two ridge stacks. The windows are largely 18th-century mullioned casements, with some unglazed openings. The layout is a āCā shape around a square courtyard, with a projecting north wing. The north side of the courtyard has a central bay with a projecting pediment, containing three carriage openings with elliptical heads. This bay is flanked by round-headed doorways and then by two round-headed casements, followed by a door and a window. The west side has five recessed round-headed openings, each with a door and fanlight. The south side has three doors between two mullioned casements and then a further casement, followed by three casements. Above these openings are six Yorkshire sashes. The east side is bordered by a boundary wall with flat coping and a pair of square gatepiers with moulded bases and corniced capitals. A north wing extends from the east side. The north wing has irregular 20th-century window openings. The north gable has a stone stairway. The west side of the building has 20th-century fenestration, as do the north and west rear elevations which feature a mix of irregular, unglazed openings.
