Description
West Lodge is a house that was originally built as a lodge in 1862, designed in the Gothic Revival style. It features rockfaced and plain ashlar stonework with a slate roof. The building has a chamfered plinth and coped gables with kneelers. There is a single ridge stack that includes a monogram panel. The lodge is a single storey with three bays. The windows are cusped and traceried lancets, set within square-headed reveals and hood moulds. The south front has a central Tudor arched door with hood moulds, flanked by double lancets. Each of the east and west gables has a lancet window and a monogram panel above.
Surrounding the lodge is a dwarf boundary wall topped with plain railings, featuring a single square pier and a wicket gate to the west. The adjoining curved boundary walls include a single square terminal pier and two chamfered square gate piers with traceried panels, although there are no gates present.
