Description
The water mill and adjoining stables at Colliery Farm date from the early 19th century. They are constructed from coursed and squared rubble and brick, topped with asbestos cement roofs. The building is single storey plus a loft and has an L-shaped plan with three unequal bays.
On the east side, there are three breathers on the left. To the right, a wall encloses the water wheel and features an altered doorway and a small opening inside. Above this wall, there is a small central gabled brick dormer. The south gable has a door on the right and a central door above.
The adjoining stable to the west has a casement window and a stable door on the left side. To the right, there are two cart openings with a square pier between them. Further right, there is a door flanked by single casements, all with keystoned heads. Inside, the mill features a pair of millstones on a staging, and the water wheel has been adapted to drive an electric generator.
