Description

This is a pub sign located in front of and to the west of The Vale Hotel, a public house. It was created between 1935 and 1937 and altered around 1985. The sign was designed by T Cecil Howitt for Home Ales Brewery. It features an ashlar and bronze construction, with a circular base that includes carved bench seats. Above the base is a fluted Doric column, complete with a base and capital, which supports a three-sided lantern that has replaced sign boards. The sign is included for its group value with The Vale Hotel, for which it was originally designed.
