Description

This is an early 17th-century house located on the north side of the High Road in Beeston and Stapleford. The house is constructed of dressed stone, with traces of timber framing visible, and has plain and pantile roofs. A stone plinth runs along the base. There are two gable and one side-wall stack. The house is two storeys high, with garrets above, and takes the form of a “T” plan. The windows are 20th-century casements; three on the south front have chamfered and coved reveals and remnants of mullions. A central Tudor arched doorway is flanked by casements on the south front. Above the doorway are two casements. A casement is positioned to the left on each floor of the west gable, and the east gable has similar fenestration reverse handed, with a blocked opening in the garret. The north gable has a single casement on each floor, the upper one having a hood. The return angle of the rear wing includes a 19th and 20th-century casement and a door. The ground-floor rooms feature stop-chamfered spine beams; the beam to the left has a fireplace bressummer and an early 19th-century fitted glazed cupboard. The first floor has a cambered spine beam, and to the south, remains of a bay post are visible.
