Description
Oaks Farm Old Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, built in 1878 by E. W. Godwin for Earl Cowper. The structure is made of brick and features a plain tile roof with a chamfered plinth. It has two storeys and two bays, designed in an L-plan with 20th-century additions in the return angle.
The windows are primarily double and triple glazing bar sashes with segmental heads. The east front has a central door with a sloping tiled hood supported by brackets, flanked by single sashes. Above the door, there is a gabled tile-hung cross eaves dormer on the right. The south end includes a 20th-century lean-to addition with a casement and door, along with a casement in the return angle, and two single sashes to its right. Above, there are two sashes.
The rear of the building features a gabled wing on the left with a small casement, and to the right, there are lean-to additions from the 19th and 20th centuries, which include a sash and a casement. Above this section, there is a sash and a tile-hung gabled dormer to the right. The north end has three sashes flanking an altered casement, with another sash above. This farmhouse is part of a group of buildings designed by E. W. Godwin for Earl Cowper between 1872 and 1878.
