Description
Carburton Lodges and gate piers are a pair of gate lodges and piers built in 1789. They are constructed of ashlar stone with brick sides and feature slate roofs and single brick wall stacks. The gate piers on either side of the road are rectangular in shape, with a plinth and blank semi-circular headed niches. Above these niches is a square block with swept sides that supports two steps and a ball finial. Each lodge is single storey and has one bay, with a plinth and moulded fluted pediment in the center. The wide blank semi-circular headed archway contains a single glazing bar sash within a plain stone surround. Flanking the lodges are lower pent blank units with outlined half gables. The rear of the lodges matches the front, and at the top of the gate piers are armorial cartouches that bear the date 1789.
