Description
Oldcotes Mill is a mill built in the late 18th century and 19th century. It features dressed coursed rubble and hipped pantile roofs. The structure has a three-storey, three-bay north wing, with the top floor being a later addition, and a later two-storey, four-bay south wing. The south wing has, from left to right, two doorways, a single window opening, a single arch with a water wheel still in place, and another single window opening. Above these, there are three window openings, a doorway, and another single window opening. On the top floor, there are two window openings. All openings have flush ashlar surrounds. The ground floor and first floor each have two tie plates. Inside, the mill retains its machinery for driving three pairs of stones, which is inscribed "John Thornton Millwright Engineer & C Worksop". This includes the pit wheel, gears, spur wheel, stone nuts with wooden teeth, and a chute.
