Description
66 to 72 Bridgegate are mid-19th century almshouses, marked with the inscription 'Ex dono Johannis Darell M D Scholastici Usui Anno Domini mddxxii'. The buildings are two storeys high, constructed of brick, featuring a modillion cornice and a central pediment. They have a Welsh slate roof and painted rusticated quoins. The façade includes a 2-2-3 window arrangement; the central windows, located beneath a date label, have rectangular dripmoulds and lack glazing bars, with painted bands at the cills. The ground floor has four windows with rectangular dripmoulds and four doors positioned beneath gabled hoods that have finials and wooden brackets. The doors are six-panel designs with rectangular fanlights above. There is a round-headed passage entry. Nos 62 to 72 form a group.
