Description
Markham Moor House is a house with an attached wall, dating from the late 18th century, with 19th-century alterations and 20th-century additions. It is constructed of red brick and features a hipped pantile roof with two outer red brick chimneys and dentil eaves. The house is two and a half storeys high and consists of three bays. The central doorway has a panelled door and a traceried overlight, set into a wooden reveal and topped by a wooden pediment with a fluted and dentil frieze. On either side of the doorway are single 19th-century canted bays, which have a rendered base and simplified entablatures. Above the bays are three glazing bar sash windows under segmental arches, with three smaller similar sashes under segmental arches on the top floor.
To the left, slightly set back and raised on a plinth, is a 20th-century red brick wing that is two storeys high and has two bays, a hipped pantile roof, and a single red brick chimney at the rear left. This wing features a projecting bay with a four-light casement window, and above it are two cross casement windows. At the rear, there is a lower two-storey wing made of painted brick and pantiles, which is of an earlier construction. Attached to the right and set back is a lean-to with a red brick wall. This wall descends to an ashlar-coped red brick wall that curves northwards, with two further drops over a length of 18 metres.
