Description

The pigeoncote and attached stable, outbuildings, and wall at Markham Moor House date from the mid-18th century to the 19th century. They are constructed of painted brick with pantile roofs. The pigeoncote is a two-storey structure with a garret and a single bay, featuring raised, brick-coped gables and tumbled brickwork. It has dogtooth eaves and a first-floor band, set on a plinth. The pigeoncote includes a single wooden slatted opening with a glazing bar overlight under a segmental arch, with a similar opening above and a single blocked round opening in each garret.

To the left of the pigeoncote is a stable block with a central doorway that has ashlar lock and hinge blocks, flanked by wooden slatted openings with glazing bar overlights, all under segmental arches. Further left are the outbuildings, which have a variety of openings including a doorway with a stable door, a tripartite glazing bar casement, several plank doors, and multiple small fixed lights, along with several modern doors and casements.

Extending from the outbuildings is a painted brick wall with shaped brick coping and three ashlar-coped piers, which stretches for 7 meters to the north. A modern brick and pantile garage projects from the right side of the pigeoncote. At the rear, there are additional outbuildings that are not included in the listing. Inside the stable, there are stalls with twisted iron posts featuring decorative finials.
