Description

This is a monumental gateway dating from the late 18th century, located 35 metres south of Wigthorpe Hall. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a tripartite design set on a plinth. The central archway projects and has a pediment, with three steps leading up to it. The arch has a moulded design and imposts. On either side of the central archway are similar single archways, which also have imposts and moulded cornices. This archway was removed from the demolished Carlton Hall and is included in the listing for its group value context.
