Description
The Boiler House and Chimney at Everton Windmill is a late 19th-century structure located on the east side of Mattersey Road in Everton. This single-storey building is constructed of brick and features a pantiled roof, consisting of three bays. The front gable has an unglazed window on the left and a blocked doorway on the right, both with segmental heads. To the right, there are two pairs of double garage doors with timber lintels. Above these doors, there is a single casement window with a segmental head. Inside, the building has a longitudinal dividing wall, and the left side contains a single glazing bar fixed light.
At the rear of the building stands a detached brick chimney with rounded corners. It has a square base, a projecting band, and a tapered square stack topped with a cogged and corbelled cap, reaching approximately 50 feet in height. The boiler house housed a boiler and steam engine that were used to support the windmill during calm weather and may have functioned as a self-contained milling unit. This building is included for its group value with the windmill.
