Description

Amcott House is a mid-18th century building located on Grove Street. It is two storeys tall and constructed of red brick, featuring a double pile roof covered with Welsh slates. The gable ends are stone coped with kneelers. The façade includes stone bands and a capping to a central open pediment. There are five windows with brick voussoirs and no glazing bars, with the central window being of Venetian design. The central door also has a Venetian shape, and there is a separate small cornice and open pediment above it. The building has two brick end stacks. Inside, there is a notable wrought iron staircase and plaster ornamentation from the period.
