Description
Whimpton House is an early 19th-century farmhouse located on the north side of Darlton Road in Ragnall. The building is constructed of red brick with a rendered base and features a pantile roof. It has two red brick gable stacks and a moulded eaves band. The house is two and a half storeys tall, with three bays and a one and a half storey single bay wing on the right side.
The first floor has a rendered and painted band, and the main entrance features a doorway with a panelled door, a traceried overlight, a panelled reveal, and a moulded wooden surround. This doorway is flanked by single glazing bar sash windows that have rendered and painted wedge lintels and keystones. In the right wing, there is a single similar sash window and above it are three more similar sashes with corresponding lintels. Additionally, the right wing has a single small glazing bar sash. Above these, there are three 20th-century glazing bar casements set in the original openings. The building also has two round tie plates. At the rear, there is a two-storey extension made of brick and concrete with a pantile roof.
