Description
The lychgate and walls to the churchyard of St. Giles were built in the mid-19th century and are made of ashlar and wood. The lychgate features a tile roof topped with decorative iron crosses. It has two coped ashlar walls, each supporting open decorative wooden traceried and cusped panels that hold up the gabled roof, which is adorned with decorative bargeboards and pendants. On the west side, there is a small carved double wooden gate. To the north, there is a low rock-faced ashlar wall with chamfered coping that extends for 10 metres. A similar wall is attached to the south of the lychgate, extending south and then curving east for 50 metres. This structure is included for its group value only.
