Description

The Old Harrow Inn is a public house that has been converted into a cottage. It dates from the late 17th century, early 18th century, and 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick, with part of it originally timber framed. It features pantile roofs and has three brick coped gables with kneelers. The structure includes a single storey plus garret, two-bay wing, and a two-storey, two-bay wing to the right.

On the left side of the two-storey wing, there is a single external stack, and on the right, a triple stack, both made of red brick. The single storey wing has dentil eaves, while the two-storey wing features a first-floor dogtooth band. The left three bays sit on a plinth. The entrance has a part-glazed door, with a single Yorkshire sash window to the left, another similar sash to the right, and a blocked doorway further right. Above the entrance, there is a single Yorkshire sash window.

To the right, set back, is a single storey, two-bay extension that shows evidence of a single wall plate and single posts at the front and rear, now faced with 19th-century red brick. This extension has a doorway with a wooden door and a single Yorkshire sash to the right. Further to the right is another single bay, now forming a lean-to with a felt roof and a single casement window. At the rear of the left wing, there is a lean-to extension.

The left gable facing the road has a tripartite Yorkshire sash window under a segmental arch, with a single Yorkshire sash window above it. Inside, there are some beams, including a large chamfered beam in the left wing, which also shows evidence of a bressumer fireplace.
