Description
The Shambles is a Grade II listed building located on Town Street in Treswell. Originally a barn, it was extended and converted into four cottages, and by 1986, it became a single dwelling. The building dates from the early to late 18th century and is constructed of red brick with a whitewashed, rendered base and a pantile roof. It features two ridge stacks and two gable stacks, with the left gable stack being rendered. The eaves are decorated with dogtooth detailing and the structure is set on a plinth on the left side.
The building is two storeys high and consists of eight bays. From left to right, the façade includes a single casement window, a doorway with a wooden door, a smaller casement window, two doorways, another small casement window, a doorway, and a single glazing bar Yorkshire sash window. The three doorways on the right have six-fielded panel doors and lean-to two Yorkshire sashes, accompanied by a single casement window to the right and another similar sash further to the right. There are lines on the wall indicating where extensions have been made, and the left gable wall features blocked diamond ventilation patterns.
