Description

The Old Dovecote is a former pigeoncote that has been converted into a house, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of brick and features a roof made of plain tiles, pantiles, and asbestos cement tiles. The building has alighting shelves, cogged eaves, an eaves band, crowstepped gables, and a single central ridge stack. It stands three storeys high with garrets and consists of two bays, along with a continuous rear outshut.

On the left side, there is a single-storey, single-bay porch from the 19th century, made of brick and topped with a pantile roof. The main south front displays, on the left, a single Yorkshire sash window, and on the right, a plank door. Further right, there is a single glazing bar sash window flanked by two doors, with the left door having a segmental head. Above this, to the left, is another single glazing bar sash, and to the right, a small casement window in a large altered opening. Above again, there is a single glazing bar sash to the left and a central group of six shelves, flanked by groups of five shelves on either side. The top section features two full-width shelves.

The west front includes, on the left, a Yorkshire sash window with a segmental head, and on the right, a blocked door. Above this, there is a similar sash window, and above that, a blocked opening leading to the garret. The north side has a casement window, a Yorkshire sash, and above, another Yorkshire sash window.
