Description

The Roman Wall is located on the south side of the churchyard in Caistor and dates back to the 4th century. This section of the wall measures 15 feet long and stands approximately 10 feet high. It is constructed from limestone rubble and features massive irregular foundation blocks. Above these, there are layers of herringbone core secured by layers of poured mortar. The facing of the wall has been robbed, and it is at least 5 feet thick at this point. The wall is scheduled as an Ancient Monument.
