Description
The Church of St Peter and St Paul is a parish church that is now closed. It dates back to the 13th century, with significant rebuilding carried out in 1891 by Hodgson Fowler, incorporating some original 13th-century fragments. The church is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, featuring stone coped gables and slate roofs. It includes a nave with a western bellcote, a chancel, and a vestry. The west, south, and north walls display remnants of 13th-century walling. The south side has four windows, which are two-light and square-headed in a perpendicular style, while a similar window is found on the north side. The east window is three-light and pointed in the perpendicular style. The gabled ashlar bellcote has one bell opening, and the main entrance is located at the west end. The interior is quite plain, except for some medieval fragments incorporated into the nave near the west end, which include a stiff leaf capital, a head, and a foliated corbel.
