Description

The garden gateway at Fillingham Castle dates from the early to late 18th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble and features wrought iron elements. The later 18th-century rubble piers have moulded cornices and blocking courses, with an ornate vase on the right-hand pier; the vase on the left-hand pier is broken off at the base. The early 18th-century wrought iron gates are delicately designed, showcasing an ornate overthrough with foliage, a dado, and the crest of the Wray family.
