Description
The ruins of Bayon's Manor, dating from around 1840, include the remnants of an icehouse and an east gateway with a connecting wall, as well as a fragmentary north curtain wall. The structure is built from ironstone ashlar and is currently in a ruinous and overgrown state. To the right, there is a dilapidated icehouse; the original octagonal tower has been demolished, leaving only the lower circular portion, which features a doorway on the north side. This doorway has a shaped head with a flat apex and is flanked by three large rolls on each side, with plain rectangular jambs.
To the left, a broken wall extends northward for approximately 20 yards, where the east gateway remains. This gateway has a three-centred head, two orders, large buttresses on the outer wall, and a single studded plank door, which is one of a pair. The ruinous north curtain wall features two pairs of lancets and two single lancets, along with fragmentary doorjambs. An overgrown heap of rubble to the west is all that remains of the great keep.
