Description

The Old Hall Farm House is a farm house built in 1608, with 20th-century alterations and additions. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a pantile roof with stone-coped gables, along with brick gable and ridge stacks. The building is two storeys high with attics and has a four-bay front. The entrance is off-centre, featuring a part-glazed door from the 20th century set in a stone surround with a cornice above. This door is flanked by two 20th-century casement windows, each with a two-light design in 17th-century stone surrounds that have been broken open at the cill level. To the left of the entrance is a taller three-light window of a similar style, and all windows retain their original cornices. Above and to the left of the door is a datestone reading "1608". The upper floor has three two-light casements, while the second bay from the left features a shorter three-light ovolo mullioned window that is an original 17th-century feature. The roof includes two gabled two-light dormers. The gable end has two 20th-century three-light timber mullion windows and one blocked garret light. Inside, there is a 17th-century stone fireplace with a four-centre arch, plain chamfered beams, and a partly restored butt purlin roof with numbered principals. The kitchen hearth is spanned by a reused late medieval tie beam of mid-hall type.
