Description

This is a pair of semi-detached houses, numbered 7 and 11, with a small attached cottage, located at 9 Market Place, Folkingham. The houses date from the late 18th century and early 19th century. They are constructed of red brick with painted ashlar dressings, some limestone rubble, and have a pantile mansard roof with stone-coped gables and brick gable stacks.

The houses are two storeys and have an attic, with a four-bay front. A rubble plinth runs along the base, and a brick band marks the first floor. Steps lead up to a pair of doorways in the centre, each with a semi-circular head, a large blocked fanlight, and partially glazed doors. A single, original multi-paned sash window is to the left, and another is to the right, both with brick wedge lintels and raised keystone details. Above the doorways is a single blank opening flanked by single sash windows, all with brick wedge lintels and raised ashlar keystones. Two flat-headed dormers contain sliding sash windows.

To the left, number 7 features a single-storey, two-bay extension dating from the early 19th century, with decorated eaves and a single gable stack. A doorway with a segmental head and partially glazed door is accessed by steps, alongside a three-light sliding sash window with a segmental head.
