Description

Middlemore House is part of a larger 18th-century house, now forming a rear wing, with a completely rebuilt front elevation. It is a two-storey building with attic space, constructed of stone with a slate roof. A band separates the two storeys, and the eaves feature a wooden modillioned cornice. The north front has three blocked windows, with one now containing a modern casement. The east front has two hung sash windows with glazing bars. The roof is hipped at the east end. Rusticated quoins are visible, with a stone inset bearing the inscription "R. Middlemore Anno 1707" (though this is not in its original position). The building is in poor condition and is currently used for storage. Inside, a fireplace in the entrance hall features plaster ornamentation and the Middlemore coat of arms, now boarded up. The 18th-century staircase is reportedly in poor condition, and access is currently restricted. A photograph of the property is held within the National Monuments Record.
