Description
This is a group of two chest tombs and five headstones located one metre east of the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Belton. The tombs date from the mid to late 18th century and are made of limestone. The two coffin-shaped chest tombs feature cherubs and inscriptions at the head end, with the southern tomb dated 1743. Between the chest tombs, closer to the church, are two flat-topped headstones; the left one has a scrolled cartouche and is dated 1739, dedicated to one Patchitt, while the right stone features a cherub and an illegible inscription. Further from the church are three additional headstones: the left one is scroll-topped with an oval panel, the central one is arch-topped with a skull and wreaths, and the right one is flat-topped with a cherub in high relief. None of these three headstones has a legible date or inscription.
