Description
12 St Paul's Street is a Grade II* listed building dating from 1671, featuring a nearly untouched 17th-century front made of ashlar stone. The building has two storeys and includes two canted bays that are also two storeys high, each with a gabled roof. The upper windows consist of six mullioned lights with leaded casements, while the lower windows have glazing-barred hung sashes that have been inserted into earlier openings, of which three mullions remain.
The building has moulded string courses, with the one on the east gable being of a slightly different section. The upper string follows the lintel of the windows. Moulded brackets are located at the ends of the gables, and there are damaged stone finials at either end. A hipped dormer with a leaded casement is present, along with a small two-light mullioned window in the centre that features a moulded architrave and cill. The door is made up of four panels and is set within a fine rectangular frame that has a bolection mould. The building also has a moulded stone plinth and the west gable contains a date stone inscribed with "NTS 1663." An iron scraper is also present.
