Description
10 and 11 St Paul's Street are two adjoining houses, likely built in the early 16th century. Number 10 has three storeys and is rendered. It features a small 19th-century casement window in the gable and a three-light 19th-century oriel window on the second storey with leaded casements. There are remnants of wooden bargeboards on the gables. The ground floor is finished in modern ashlar and includes a door with six fielded panels beneath an oversailing canopy. There is also a bowed window with 20th-century glazing and a modern tiled riser.
Number 11 has a canted bay window with five lights, supported by stone mullions and topped with a pentice roof. It has a half-glazed 19th-century door with a side light. To the right, there is an 18th-century bay window with a hipped roof. The building features a well-crafted moulded 13th-century eaves cornice. A plaque made of painted stone, located beneath a small cornice, displays the arms of the Bakers' Company and is inscribed "Joseph and Jane Caldecott 1715."
