Description
The Houblon Arms Public House is a public house dating from around 1700, with some minor alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and brick detailing, and has a concrete tile roof with single gable and ridge brick stacks. The building is a single storey with attics, comprising three bays plus an additional two bays. The right end has two bays that are slightly higher, and the end bay has been converted into a gabled cross wing.
The central entrance is a 20th-century door with a timber lintel. To the left, there are 20th-century two-light glazing bar casements, and to the right, two three-light glazing bar Yorkshire sashes. All the ground floor windows have timber lintels and 20th-century shutters. Above the entrance in the gable, there is a three-light glazing bar Yorkshire sash with a brick segmental head. At the eaves level of the roof, there are three two-light divided Yorkshire sashes, two of which have lead cheeks and flat roofs, while one features a gabled roof.
