Description

Oasby House is a 17th-century house with significant 19th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, featuring a stone-coped gable, two moulded stone ridge stacks, a pantile roof, and one external wall stack. The original L-shaped plan has been extended in the 19th century to create a cross plan. The two-story house, with a garret, has an irregular six-bay front. A single-bay, gabled projection, positioned off-centre, contains a plain door set within a stone surround, and above it a 19th-century two-light casement. All the 19th-century casements feature timber mullions and plain stone surrounds. To the right is a higher two-story wing, blank except for a projecting stack. To the left is a canted ashlar bay window, incorporating three lights to the front and single lights to the side, topped with a pantile roof, flanked by single three-light casements. A further fixed light with glazing bars is at the left-hand end. Above this bay are three three-light casements and a single two-light casement. The rear extension incorporates one reused 17th-century mullioned window.
