Description
The sawpit on the east side of Belton Estate Woodyard dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and has a pantile roof. The building features coped gables with kneelers and is a single storey with two bays. On the right side, there is a wide opening with a wooden valance, while the left side has a brick bay containing a two-light window. Each gable includes a segment-headed doorway, with the right gable featuring a pair of board doors. Inside, there is a lengthwise pit edged with wooden beams. This building was used for cutting squared timber from logs by hand sawing.
