Description
The statue at the head of the ornamental garden steps, located 50 meters south-west of Harlaxton Manor, consists of a pedestal built between 1838 and 1844 and a statue added between 1948 and 1966. The pedestal is made of ashlar and features a square shape with strapwork ornamentation, a moulded plinth, and a cornice. The statue depicts a priest holding a child and stands approximately 1.5 meters high. The pedestal is part of the original garden furniture of Harlaxton Manor, while the statue was placed by the Jesuits, who occupied the manor from 1948 to 1966. This statue is situated within the Harlaxton Manor Gardens, which are registered at grade II*. It is included for its group value.
