Description
Nos. 2 to 4 on St. Peter's Hill is a Grade II listed building originally built as a terrace of four houses in the early 19th century. It is three stories tall with a basement and features a front area. The building is constructed of red brick and has a slate roof. The ground floor is recessed behind a six-bay colonnade of stone Doric columns, which supports a projecting hood that forms a first-floor balcony with iron railings and a standard metal hooded verandah. The fourth and fifth bays between the columns have been filled in.
The building has four windows with rusticated arches and glazing bars. There are three doorcases with reeded surrounds, panelled doors, and fanlights, topped with a moulded wood cornice at the eaves. Nos. 2 and 3 have carved doors and matching ingoes, along with a brass knocker. The railings are also noted. In No. 4, which is occupied by Norton and Hamilton, the second door has been converted into a window. The second and third storeys feature rusticated flat stone arch windows and there are four steps leading up to the entrance.
