Description
Rose Cottage, along with Numbers 2 and 3 Grange Cottages, is a group of three cottages with an attached boundary wall, dating from the early 18th century. The structure was raised and altered in the mid-19th century, and subsequently restored in the late 20th century. The cottages are constructed of coursed squared stone, with the upper portions rendered and whitewashed. They have steep-pitched pantile roofs, a single ridge, and two gable brick stacks. The windows are predominantly 20th-century 2-light casements with glazing bars. The cottages are two storeys high with a six-window range. Each cottage has a renewed door flanked by a single window. Number 3, on the left, features a 19th-century 2-light sliding sash window with glazing bars. All ground floor openings are topped with brick segmental arches. The boundary wall in front of the cottages is made of coursed squared stone and has a brick coping, with three gateways. There is a rounded corner to the left of the wall.
