Description

The Manor House is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 17th century, late 18th century, late 19th century, and 20th century. It is constructed from squared coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins, and the first floor features partly lined render, which may conceal a timber frame. The roof is made of Collyweston slate, partly hipped, and includes lead dressings, a single large brick stack at the ridge, and a 20th-century wall stack on an external stone base.

The building is L-shaped, with two storeys plus a garret and a four-bay front. The left bay is advanced and gabled, while the right bays have a chamfered plinth. The entrance features an off-centre six-panel door with a plain overlight, sheltered by a 20th-century wooden porch. To the left of the door is a single tripartite Venetian window with glazing bars, followed by a 20th-century casement. To the right, there is a 19th-century canted bay window. On the first floor, there are three plain casements and a glazing bar casement to the left. The right three bays have windows with 17th-century ashlar reveals, and the garret features a two-light glazing bar sliding sash. The gabled left bay is rendered above the ground floor, likely covering a 16th-century timber frame.

At the rear of the house, there is 18th-century brickwork above a stone base, with two two-storey canted bay windows now fitted with plain sashes and double doors. The interior retains some chamfered beams, and the floor levels, external stack, and roof shape all indicate that the house originally had an open hall, which is now floored in.
