Description
The Vale House is a large, informally arranged stone house dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The house fronts onto a garden on its west side. The street façade features a projecting two-storey bowed oriel constructed in stucco, which begins at first-floor level. This oriel has three-light double-hung sash windows with glazing bars on both storeys. Below the oriel are garage doors. A door consisting of six panels is set within a plain stone frame, topped by a segmental arch. Above the doorway is a detached semi-circular fanlight featuring patterned glazing bars. A casement window is set into the gable end of the mansard roof at attic level. The interior may be of architectural interest. The building is part of a group value with the adjoining property at number 3.
