Description
The Chapel of Stamford School, built in 1671, incorporates remains of St Paul's Church, which features work from the 14th and 15th centuries. The chapel is constructed of coursed stone and has a roof made of stone slates, topped with a crenellated parapet. It includes four windows, each with three lights and rectangular dripmoulds above them. A frieze of small modillions runs along the base of the windows, and there is an offset end buttress. A small moulded doorway is present, along with a modern main doorway on the side, which also features a rectangular dripmould and a gable with a finial. Inside, there is an Early English four-bay north arcade and two finely moulded tomb recesses dating from around 1300.
